Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is stable, and the varnish is uneven and discoloured. There is evidence of wear throughout. Pin-prick sized spots of retouching are scattered throughout the composition, as well as some larger areas. There are small areas of paint loss scattered throughout, most notably in the left-hand side of the background circa 5 cm. above the female figure's head. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouchings throughout the composition, particularly in the lower two corners. In overall moderate condition.
