The following condition report is provided by Henry Gentle who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby's: All the original canvases have been lined, with one or two showing raised stretcher marks. Most of the paint layers are stable, although the paint is raised to some with minor areas of recent paint loss visible to the naked eye. All canvases have a degree of minor restored paint loss across them, not necessarily sensitively applied. Generally well preserved , the canvases show paint texture in good condition. The removal of the discoloured varnish would improve the tonality to all four images.
