Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure notably in the sitter's face and some light abrasion in the background towards the centre of the upper edge. Under ultra-violet light the old varnish layers fluoresces quite opaquely and rather unevenly, however there do not appear to be notable signs of retouching. This work is in good overall condition.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
