A set of four gilt-brass mounted mahogany side chairs, two Regency, circa 1810, two modern, in the manner of Thomas Hope

covered in later grey suede

Two period chairs in very good restored condition and ready to use. One leg with a repaired break. One chair with strengthening block to corners of seat rail, the other with consolidation to joints of the rear legs. Two later chairs in excellent condition and ready to use. Generally all four chairs with minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use.

These chairs are conceived in the Greek revival style promoted by Thomas Hope (1769-1831) in his A Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration (1807) and are based on a design shown on pl. XL of this work.
