Pile varies from 6mm down to areas of localised wear with knotbars visible. Long staple glossy wool typical of 19th century Kurdish weaving, with rich intense colour and flexible handle. Design is based on a 'Shrub' carpet. Three discontinuous fold lines in lower end of field approx 1 metre from lower border. Minute moth damage in lower border. Shape is not completely squared, not untypical for a tribal weave. Sidecords re-bound. Upper end with original flatwoven brocaded end finishes, with some losses to the braiding. Lower end with trimmed warp fringe now secured.
