the deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to an everted rim, brightly painted around the exterior with two oval panels enclosing scenes from classical literature divided by clouds, the interior with a medallion enclosing boys at play, encircled at the rim by four floral cartouches reserved on a band of diaper ground, the base with apocryphal Chenghua six-character reign mark

Condition

The brightly painted bowl is in good condition with the exception of some heavy rim fritting and minor chips, a 5mm., firing line to the base of the footring and minor glaze scratches.
