Catalogue Note

By the time this piece was entered in the 1979 International Furniture Show, William Tillman had already won the Showpiece of the Year Award for three consecutive years. Arguably the finest piece Tillman ever produced, the desk was overlooked in order that future participants would not be deterred from entering. Tillman won the award on his return to the fray in 1981, and would claim the prize for the following two years.
