the hinged lid opening to a silk-lined interior, the sides with two carrying handles

Condition

In reasonable conserved condition, with marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The trunk incorporating early leather pales whose surface shows signs of wear and small losses with one horizontal tear to the front (as per catalogue photograph). The leather does show signs of uniform craquleur as to e expected.The extremities of the leather has some areas of distress. The metal mounts have been gilt painted.
