Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good, with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is a joint around the nose indicating that it is either restored or reattached, and a section on the bottom right side is carved separately. There appears to be some weathering to the surface, consistent with placement outdoors. This has caused a slightly porous surface and some slightly open veins, particularly to the chest. There is minor veining throughout, consistent with the material. There are several small naturally occurring inclusions, including to the cheeks, and a larger inclusion above the proper left eye. There are a few minor chips, notably one to the wreath on her proper right side. There appears to be a loss to the truncation at the back which is filled with composite material. There are two small metal mounts at the back. The white marble socle is probably associated. It has minor wear including chips around the edges. There is some wooden fill to the underside of the socle.
