Catalogue Note

Henry Dasson (1825-1896) specialised in the reproduction of high quality 18th century furniture. His work, distinguished by the elevated standard of the gilt-bronze mounts and choice veneers, was frequently featured at the Paris Expositions between the 1870s and 1895.

A pair of the same model, dated 1883, sold Sotheby's New York, 19th Century Furniture and Decorative Art, 29 October 2014, lot 169.
