Condition

This rare and impressive piece is in good condition. There are overall marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The probably associated marquetry top with traces of colour on the central figure of a parrot. This top also displays some horizontal cracks consistent with age, and one area of c. 6cm. diameter with some faint discolouration probably due to water. The front door panel with engraved pewter figures is in very good condition. Minor losses and lifting to the inlay on the four rounded corners. The back panel retains an exquisite engraving. Some wear to the original gilt-bronze mounts consistent with age. The marquetry panel on the inside of the cabinet retains an attractive green and blue staining - now somewhat faded - to the military scene depicted. The key appears to be missing.
