each with a caned cartouche-shaped backrest with serpentine top rail, the armrests raised on acanthus-carved supports, raised on shell and leaf-carved cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes

Condition

This set is very good restored condition, the joints being sound and sturdy. There are minor marks and scratches consistent with age and use, and traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active. Overall minor chips to the carving have been restored and are now hardly noticeable. One fauteuil with the back-right leg broken and repaired and the right side of the seat replaced; another fauteuil with the front-right leg broken and repaired, its seat with replacements to the front and sides; one other with a back-left leg broken and repaired, the fourth fauteuil with restorations to the front-left leg and left side of the seat replaced.
