Description

  • Walnut, fruitwood, leather
  • 79cm. high, 197cm. wide, 98cm. deep; 2ft. 7in., 6ft. 5½in., 3ft. 2½in.
the elliptical top inlaid with a leafy scrollwork border and centred by a musical trophy medallion, the similarly inlaid frieze with three drawers and three slides inset with leather, on square tapering legs

Condition

A decorative piece is overall in reasonable restored condition. The top warped slightly and with several age cracks consistent with age and use. The patches covering where the pins used to fix the top to the base are discoloured and visible at the corners. There are small loses and restorations to the marquetry inlay throughout. The writing slide to one side is stuck and the drawer to one end is locked. Age cracks are visible along the frieze at the joints. The colour is faded to one side. Feet now on later metal pins. With minor old marks and scratches consistent with age.
