Description

  • Ebony, oak, brass, steel, glass
  • 34cm. 13½in. high
6¼-inch dial with winged cherub spandrels, matted centre, strike/silent lever at XII, the two train fusee movement with seven knopped and ringed pillars, verge escapement, rack striking on a bell and pull quarter repeating from both side on three smaller bells, the backplate with ornate set-up ratchets and engraved with tulips and foliate scrolls, signed in a cartouche Jonathan Lowndes, Pallmall, London, the case with dolphin/bird handle to the pierced and repoussé basket top, the sides with further repoussé frets, the moulded base on bun feet

Condition

Dial in generally good condition, silvered chapter ring a little tarnished, Movement is complete and appears to retain the original wheelwork throughout but not running at time of cataloguing and needs a clean, service and overhaul. Case in generally good condition, damage to right upper moulding and rear door, rear glass loose, other old minor cracks, chips and marks throughout. With winder and 2 case keys.
