Condition

Overall, the condition of the bust is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is an area of restoration to the bottom edge of the socle at the front, some further restoration to the socle at the back, including a reattachment where some glue residue is visible. There also appears to be a restoration to the tip of the nose. There are a few chips, particularly to some of the high points and the edge of the truncation. Some chips have been filled in, notably to the fold of drapery on the proper left side. There are three small dents to the chest on the proper right side and a few further minor scratches. There is a slip to the surface which has flaked or rubbed in a few areas, including to the top of the forehead. There is particular dirt in the crevices of the ruff. There is particular wear and some minor losses to the top edge of the truncation at the back. The marble slab at the bottom is in good condition with minor dirt and wear.
