Condition
The ceramic is sound. Examination under UV light reveals a varnish layer to a quarter of the plate, probably covering a restoration. There is a hairline scratch (approx. 4 cm long) towards the edge, some further small lines of surface abrasion and some handing marks in places. There is a spot of repaired loss to the glaze along the edge (approx. 1 cm long). There is a firing crack (approx. 10 cm long) on the underside and a few small chips on the underside, relating to rubbing from the support element. There are a few fine lines of craquelure to the glaze on the underside, inherent to the firing process, and a loss to the glaze (approx. 2 cm long) with an original spot of clay accretion. This work is in fairly good condition.
