Condition
- small foxing spots scattered, especially in the lower left ;
- colors have slightly faded : the white highlights thus appear brighter - they may have been added later ;
- the drawing is laid down on a sheet of paper ;
- two small thin scratches or tears appear on the back, where white gouache may have been added to conceal this ;
The sheet measures 16,9 x 12,6cm.
Some spots on the picture are not on the drawing but on the glass covering the work. Please feel free to contact us for more photos.
The picture is slightly too pink in the catalogue.

Catalogue Note
Joséphine de Bonaparte, épouse de Napoléon Bonaparte, acquit le domaine de Malmaison le 21 avril 1799. Après son divorce, l'impératrice Joséphine en fit sa résidence principale. Elle y décéda en 1814.
A l'arrière-plan de notre aquarelle on aperçoit l'aqueduc de Marly.
L'aquarelle est datée 1798 alors que Joséphine ne posséde pas encore Malmaison. On peut supposer qu'elle a été datée ultérieurement par l'artiste, peut-être lorsqu'il l'a offerte à Edmond Taigny, ce qui explique ce décalage d'un an.
