Provenance

The bergère and the four armchairs from the next lot are described on reference 79 in the valuation of the estate of the Prince Marc de Beauvau Craon, 5th Prince de Beauvau (1816 - 1883) in 1883 (French National Archives AN.MC/ET/L/1385). They were located in the grand salon of his house on 34 avenue Montaigne in Paris.

Condition

The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition despite the usual minor chips and wears to the gilding due to age and handling. The gilding has also been slightly refreshed. As stated in the catalogue description, this is an oil gilding, not a gold leaf gilding. This oil gilding is old, 19th century and possibly original. The construction is firm and sound. There is a small restoration to the upper rim of each front leg. The upholstery is in good condition.
