Condition

The prints are in generally good condition, with wide margins. All with mat-stain and areas of surface soiling, particularly at sheet edges. The colors of each are slightly attenuated, and there is a band of light stain visible in the upper quarter of each image. All except plate 5 with non-archival hinge remnants lower left and right corners. There are several tiny marks of stray ink and a few scattered fox marks in the image and margins of each print. The versos with scattered surface soiling, several small spots of discoloration and a few tiny fox marks. Plate 1 with a small spot of damp-stain lower right. There is a small loss to the upper right corner and several small nicks and tears along the lower and right edges, some repaired. Plate 2 with two 4 inch non-archival hinge remnants along upper sheet edge. There are two areas of very faint discoloration in the lower left and bottom center margins, each extending into the image. Plate 3 with a 1/2 inch tear and small crease lower right edge. Plate 4 with an approx. 1 inch crease in the sky, upper center. The lower corners are lightly skinned. The verso with two small hinge remnants along the upper edge. Plate 5 with several small tears and light creases along the upper and lower sheet edges. A thin line of light skinning in the left margin and two approx. 3 inch hinge remnants along top sheet edge. A few tiny printing imperfections in the sky. The verso with a faint chalk notation. Plate 6 with one repaired tear in the upper margin, extending approx. 1 mm into the image, and two repaired tears in the right margin, one extending to the image edge and the other to the plate edge. There are non-archival hinge remnants in the upper corners and several small tears along the upper and lower edges. Two diagonal creases lower left corner. The verso with an approx. 14 inch long band of non-archival hinge residue along the upper edge.
