Catalogue Note

Clyde Edward Pangborn (Oct. 28, 1895 – Mar. 29, 1958) was an American aviator and barnstormer, performing aerial stunts and earning the moniker "Upside-Down Pangborn." In 1931, he was the first person to fly non-stop across the Pacific Ocean, along with co-pilot Hugh Herndon, Jr. Pangborn and Herndon, a native of Titusville, recounted their adventures to the Titusville Rotary Club upon their return, where they were presented with this bowl.
