An American silver and mixed metal three-handled presentation cup, Tiffany & Co., New York, dated 1901

the body with acid etched dedication to Frederick Duesberg within an applied copper laurel wreath and the names of fifty Tiffany & Co. employees within embossed wreaths, also applied with a copper foliate monogram FD, the copper foot with a silver band etched with presentation inscription, with copper handles and gilt interior. Together with an ebonized wood base and an autographed photograph of Charles Lewis Tiffany with the inscription "Feb. 15th 1892 / My eightieth birthday / C.L. Tiffany."

The dedication reads "Presented to Frederick Duesberg December 31st, 1901" and the inscription on the foot reads "With the hearty good will and wishes of his fellow workmen of the completion of 45 years of continuous service with Tiffany & Co." According to the 1910 US Federal Census, Frederick Duesberg was born in Germany circa 1933 and immigrated to New York in 1857. He and his wife, Augusta Duesberg, had seven children together. In his will dated June 3, 1911, Frederick Duesberg of 166 Warwick Street, Brooklyn leaves "his loving cup" to his son William Duesberg, which is presumably the same cup. He died January 2, 1915.

Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) was the founder of Tiffany & Co. in 1837. Most craftsmen working at Tiffany & Co. in the 19th and early 20th century are not publicly known. This piece serves as a rare historical document into those employees working in 1901.
