Catalogue Note

According to Gorham's records, this five-piece tea and coffee set with tray is listed as being completed on October 31, 1918, with a collective making time of 502 hours; the coffee pot comprising 86 of those hours, the tea pot 83, the kettle 135, the creamer 59, the sugar bowl 68, and the tray 71. The maker of the hollowware pieces was either William L. Hughes Jr. or E. Hughes. John M. Sorum was responsible for the tray.

The chasing on these items took a collective time of 405 hours; the coffee pot comprising 74 of those hours, the tea pot 56, the kettle 100, the creamer 40, the sugar bowl 51, and the tray 84. No chaser is listed for any of these pieces.

The records note that their appears to be a code error for the kettle and the tray, as a photograph of the six-piece set LQU indicates that the kettle for the set is LQV and the tray for the set is LQS. The kettle was completed on November 1st, 1918, and the tray a day later on November 2nd. The records also reveal that there was a waste bowl, which is now missing. The net factory price for the extant pieces was $1798.
