According to the Gorham records, this piece is listed as a fern dish. It took 36 hours to make and was then then chased by William T. Thompson for 93.5 hours. It was finished on March 4, 1912, and had a net factory price of $260 (Larry Pristo, Martelé: Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, p. 444).
