Description
- marked on base of tureen and liner with maker, all pieces scratched "F E Berger / No. 714 Broadway New York", the liner also with "1862" and something indistinct, tureen, liner and cover also with French control mark, probably that in use between 1838-64

oval with leaf-tip rim, one side with bright-cut wreath, foliate handles, the domed cover with floral ring handle above chased acanthus, the silver liner with hinged ring handles. Together with a silver stand on foliate feet, twisted rope rim, center engraved with bright-cut border of flowerheads within entrelac and punctuated by quatrefoils enclosing rough landscapes, apparently unmarked. 4 pieces.
Condition
foot of tureen with small split at angle of one of the steps and traces of old repair, tureen with a few shallow dents to body, cover and liner with a few minor dings, the stand with surface scratches, minor dings and some softening to engraved decoration; otherwise all in good condition
