Vente Sotheby's Monaco, le 9 février 1981, lot 539
Condition
Basically 18th century carcasses entirely redecorated with marquetry.
Illustration is quite accurate.
The front one with the tortoiseshell ground: overall condition is fine except some veneer lifting to the front and left side. Some scratches to the top. Gilt-bronze rubbed.
The second one with brass ground: extensive brass lifting to the marquetry particularly to the front on the left side, slightly less on the right side. Otherwise highly decorative pieces incorporating old elements. Brass lifting needs to be restored before display. Few elements from the framing of the drawers detached and need to be re-fixed.
