Description

Condition

Good condition overall with wear to the surface and splits consistent with age and handling. A vertical split with two butterflies repairs visible to the reverse. One finger is missing to the Christ's proper right hand; two other ones to the Virgin's proper right hand. Some old splits with old repairs notably a vertical split running thought the Virgin's right cheek down onto her chest, on the Christ's left knee and left arm. His proper left arm appears to be reattached. Overall surface dirt and wear to the gilding of the frame which is carved integrally with the medallion. A chip notably visible to the bottom left side of the frame. An indistinct inked inscription visible in the back of the medallion.
