Condition

The painting is an excellent overall condition considering its period of creation. Its medium is very well preserved as for its golden ground which is also very well preserved. It is painted on a perfectly straight panel made of one uncraddled softwood mount in an ancient frame. It has a very slight crack along the lower edge following the junction of the panel and its frame. Under the UV light : the painting appears under an uniform green varnish with very slight restorations in the eagle, the face and hair of John, his foot and his red drapery. Few restoration can also be seen in the golden draperies. Très bel état de conservation d'ensemble.
