the cylindrical body rising to a ribbed neck with everted rim, brightly enamelled around the exterior with carps in iron-red surrounded by gilded aquatic plants and animals, all reserved on a powder-blue ground

Condition

The vase is in reasonably good condition, with a hairline crack inside the rim (approx. 16 cm) and another approx. 4 cm next to it, and a star crack to the base (approx. 8 x 7 cm). There are slight scratches to the surface and rubbing of the gilding. There are firing flaws including a small area without the blue ground glaze (approx. 3.5 x 1 cm) at the shoulders, grits to the rim and foot, several firing lines including one at the rim (approx. 1 cm) and several at the shoulders (longest approx. 2 cm), kiln adhesions near the foot, and burst bubbles and iron spots.
