standing four-square with the head resting on the trunk, wearing a saddle cloth carved in low relief with rocks issuing from tumultuous waves, the stone of pale celadon tone with traces of the russet skin to the upper carving, wood stand

Purchased in Hong Kong in 1980.
Condition
The elephant is in overall very good condition, with minute fritts to the edges of the carving.
