Description

  • Jade
comprising: three 'dragon' belt hooks, each with a horned dragon forming the hook and a chilong on the arched shaft grasping a lingzhi spray in its jaws, an oval button on the underside, the stones variously of grey, calcified and pale celadon tone; and an archaistic celadon and russet jade belt hook with fitted box

Provenance

The calcified and pale celadon belthooks, Sotheby's London, 9th May 1986, lot 716. 
The grey jade and the archaistic belthook purchased in Hong Kong in 1978 and 2007 respectively.

Condition

The pale celadon jade and the grey jade belt hooks in overall very good condition, with minute fritts to the edges. The russet and celadon jade belt hook with some shallow chips to the edge of the hook. The calcified jade helt hook with one shallow chip on the side, and light red staining underneath.
