the guards and sticks gilt-lacquer decorated against a black ground with figures in a garden, the fan leaf brightly painted on both sides with figures within elaborate terraced pavilions, each figure with finely detailed ivory faces and clothing, framed and under glass

Condition

Please note that the fan has been unframed but not detached from the board for inspection. The fan is in good overall condition. There is very minor tearing, small creases to the paper and pigment loss along the crease lines. There is gentle fraying to the edges of the brocaded textiles and along the crease lines. There is very minor wear to the lacquer sticks and guards. There are small areas of glue visible under UV light.
