Description

  • gilt bronze
seated on a galloping goat, dressed in a long embroidered robe with a billowing celestial scarf wrapped around the raised arms, the ferocious face with exaggerated features and pierced with a third eye, the flaming hair surmounted by a five-skull crown

Provenance

Collection of Ernest Hamilton Sharp (1861-1922), OBE, and appointed King's Counsel for the colony of Hong Kong in July 1902.  

Condition

The right hand and the left hand's little finger are broken off and missing. The index finger is warped and cracked. There is a square reserve under the goat's belly. There is wear on the surface, consistent with age.
