Description

  • lacquer
decorated to the front with a lobed cartouche enclosing a scholar seated in a pavilion, approached by another scholar on horse, the back and base lacquered brown

Condition

The base and the reverse have been relacquered, there are signs of retouching to the red lacquer along the edges. The reverse bottom right has some expected age cracks with associated flakes. There are some very minute flakes to the lacquer.
