Catalogue Note

This lustrous white jade cong has some brownish-yellow colouration. Deftly carved, it is polished and smooth, square outside, with a circular hole inside and a short protruding section on top. Its four angles are complete and well cut, while its surface is plain without any further decoration. A similar type of jade tube of the Western Zhou period was excavated from Tomb 3 at Dabaozishan, Li County, Gansu Province; illustrated in Gansu Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, Gansu wenwu jinghua [Ancient Treasures in Gansu Province], Beijing, 2006, p. 65.
