3 volumes, in 12s (7 7/8 x 4 7/8 in.; 220 x 125 mm). 3 frontispieces and 21 engraved plates by George Cruikshank, half-titles with publisher's advertisements on versos in vols. 1–2, leaf of advertisements preceding title-page in vol. 3, 4-page publisher's advertisement at the end of vol. 1; occasional light foxing or offsetting. Publisher's plum cloth, covers blocked in blind with an arabesque panel, spines lettered in gilt and ruled in blind, yellow-coated endpapers; spines faded, some rubbing, cloth at spine ends a little tired, ink spots on upper board of  vol. 3. Morocco case.

First edition, first issue of sheets. With points: title-page omits Dickens's name; final engraving is the "Fireside" plate; leaf listing the illustrations present; spines with publisher's publisher's imprint. A very good, unsophisticated copy.
