Catalogue Note

In this memorandum to Samuel Lewis, Dearl orders provisions for HMS Director, including wine, beef, pork, oatmeal, butter, and water. As commander of the Director, Bligh countersigned the requisition.

The crew of Director mutinied during the general uprising ignited by the Nore mutiny in 1797, but unlike the action on the Bounty, this was not inspired by any specific action of Bligh, and he was soon returned to command of the ship.
