Catalogue Note

Mohan Lal, Kashmiri writer and diplomat, accompanied Sir Alexander Burnes on his mission to Bokhara in 1832 and later served as his political assistant during Burnes's fateful mission to Kabul in 1838. He published an account of the journey in Travels in the Panjab, Afghanistan & Turkistan (1846, see lot 227).
