Catalogue Note

Two sketches showing scenes from the 1901-04 British National Antarctic ("Discovery") Expedition. These are believed to be by Charles Reginald Ford (1880-1972), the steward on the Discovery, however the paintings bear a similarity to works by Edward Wilson (1872-1912), the zoologist and artist on the expedition; it is possible that Ford made his own copies, or these were given to Ford by Wilson.

This lot includes various notes and letters compiled by a member of Ford's family and a magazine page dated 10 December 1904 showing Captain Scott, Ford, and the officers and crew of the Discovery.
