- fishskin, gold, gilt metal, leather (case), silk,
each piece with blue enamel ornament on a matted gold ground, applied with opalescent enamel and red paste beads, comprising a pair of scissors, a bodkin, a thimble, a needle case and a perfume bottle, in it original red morocco case applied with gold cartouche initialled C, the interior of the lid with mirror, original beige silk cushion, maker’s mark on thimble only, French 1er coq on almost each piece, case: 12cm, 4 ¾ in high ; and a heart-shaped fishskin needle case with gold and gilt-metal mounts, unmarked, probably French, circa 1770, 5cm., 2in high ; and a gilt-metal needle case chased with a putto and rocaille elements, probably German, circa 1740-50, 12cm., 4 ¾ in high

1. overall very good condition and charming set.

3. some wear to gilding.
