each decorated with the drawer fittings and further spiderweb or inhabited scroll ornament in raised gilding, reeded silver mounts, one unmarked, the other maker's mark [?]PC or G, charge and discharge marks of Antoine Leschaudel, Paris, 1747

Condition

Both in good condition with minor firing flaws and time wear ; the unmarked box with starcrack visible on the interior of lid, the other with cracks across interior of lid less visible on exterior and cement visible along join to mount at back

Catalogue Note

Although the first letter of the maker's mark and the différend are not clear, it is probable that the mounter was Jean-Pierre Collin, whose mark is recorded on the silver mounts of several similar enamel boxes.
