Condition

The illustration of the catalogue is accurate but the armchair is less red in reality. There are the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. There are some surface scratches to the mahogany veneer. There are some restorations to the veneer. The gilding of the gilt-bronze elements is slightly rubbed and tarnished. There are tears and wears to the silk, especially to the seat; the silk of the backrest reverse is missing. The construction is firm. As stated in the saleroom notice the stamp G.IACOB is spurious. Impressive armchair. Beautiful carved mahogany. We are joining an old worn cardboard (30 x 40 cm.) with the indication "Trône ayant appartenu à Louis Napoléon Roi de Hollande et frère de Napoléon Ier" (Throne which belonged to Louis Napoléon , King of Holland and brother of Napoléon I).
