Condition

To the naked eye : The painting appears in average condition. It has been a little too firmly relined during the first half of the 20th century. Some areas present a thinner layer of paint, probably due to the relining Thin craquelures visible across the surface 2 small scratches visibles in the background, upper right Under UV light : Small repaints scattered on the surface Old tear, irregularly shaped, restored : from the bottom on the right column to approx. 4cm from the capital ; a horizontal restored tear appears in the same area, above the figure with the hat An opaque green varnish probably conceals old retouches, such as filled in craquelures.
