the ovoid body resting on a short foot circled by a band of scrolling vines moulded in relief, painted with two panels finely painted with figures alternating with smaller panels with birds in reserve against a geometrical ground, the cover painted with a similar design ; together with a sugar bowl and cover, and a coffee pot and cover

Provenance

The sugar bowl and coffeepot : Commissioned by the Elphinstone family, Scotland.

Condition

The vase on the left of the catalogue illustration : Cover : The tip of the cover is missing. There is a ca. 3 cm restoration on the rim associated with tiny chips around. Vase : The neck has been re-gilded and there is wear to the gilding on the foot. The vase has been broken off and restored with visible hairlines. The vase in the middle of the catalogue illustration : Cover : there is a ca. 1.7 cm chip to the edge of the rim and wear to the gilding. There is a ca. 1.8 cm chip restored to the edge of the rim with very tiny losses. Vase : there is light wear to the enamels. There is a ca. 2,5 x 2,5 cm area of restoration to the upper part associated with hairline cracks above the two seated characters. The vase on the right of the catalogue illustration : Cover : There is a ca. 2 cm restoration to the edge of the rim. There is wear to the gilding. Vase : There is light wear to the enamels around the three characters. There is wear to the gilding
