of the third size, the gobelet with two Chinese children, one of them holding an umbrella above the other, and a bow, a quiver and a shield, on a flowery base, on a rocky background with birds and fantastic beasts, marked in yellow with the interlaced and crowned letters LL , the letter Z, the mark of the painter Asselin AS and the letter A, maybe for Armand Jeune; (a small chip at the back of the saucer)
Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate.
There is a small chip of 0,3 cm at the back of the saucer.
There is a minute chip underneath the cup, and some little wears on the gold on the handle.

Catalogue Note
Geoffrey de Bellaigue a détaillé comment le décor d’animaux fantastiques sur fond caillouté or qui figure notamment sur le vase militaire en porcelaine de Sèvres de 1780 de l’ancienne collection Youssoupov, conservé au musée de L’Ermitage, était réalisé par Pierre-Louis-Philippe Armand Jeune. Ce même décor également associé à deux enfants chinois peints par Charles-Eloi Asselin est présent sur un gobelet litron de la troisième grandeur daté 1775 conservé au Fitzwilliam Museum de Cambridge (n° inv. C.3-2006, pour une étude détaillé de ce décor voir Sir Geoffrey de Bellaigue, French Porcelain in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, vol. II, 2009, n° 223, pp. 843-845).
