Catalogue Note

Jacques-Pierre Letellier, master in 1767

This pair of encoignures can be reconciled with the commode from the Collection Ferdinand de Rothschild at Waddesdon Manor (inv. W3/94/1). Both encoignures and commode have the same entwined-ribbon inlay framing the marquetry panel and the same ormolu frieze. The comparison had been done by G. de Bellaigue in 1974 in Furniture, clocks and gilt bronzes I, Fribourg, 1974, n. 52, p. 236-238.
