Provenance

Mrs. Léon Barzin née Eleanor Post Close's apartment, Hotel Navarro, 112 Central Park South, New York, mentioned in the appraisal April 18th, 1958.

Condition

Surface dirt is visible all over the surface, notably in the crevices, and chips to the high points at several places and along the edges of the folds of the clothes. The Virgin's forearms and hands are missing and both angels' wings as well. The three heads have been reattached with a white slip visible at several places which may conceal condition points. The green velvet of the stand is fairly discoloured and worn.
