skilfully rendered as two deer on jagged rockwork, the buck portrayed seated on his haunches with his head turned backwards, the reverse with a smaller doe standing foursquare beside a gnarled branch issuing large leaves, the lustrous stone of an even white colour accentuated with russet highlights
