painted by Paris decorator Jaquel, the dinnerware with a turquoise-ground border reserving the Thurn und Taxis coat of arms, the teawares with Watteauesque figures and putti amongst clouds, the saucers with musical trophies, comprising;
143 dinner plates, 25.5cm, 10 1/8 in. diam.;
89 soup plates, 24.9cm., 9 7/8 in. diam.,
4 shaped-oval two-handle sauce tureens on integral stands, 25cm., 9 3/4 in. wide;
4 shaped-oval dishes, 25.5cm., 10in. wide;
and 56 coffee cups and 61 saucers,
most with script mark Jaquel/ rue de la Paix/ Paris/ 3,
together with 78 dinner plates, 25.5cm., 10in. diam. painted in Sevres-style with vignettes of figures and putti in landscape, with three cartouches of flowers at the rims, pseudo-sevres marks, with two brass-mounted two-handled oak travelling chests, with fitted interiors, 70cm., 27 1/2 in. high, 88cm., 34 1/2 in. wide, 57cm., 22 1/2 in. deep

Condition

For a service of this size it is generally in good condition and appearance. Of the dinner plates, two have a chip to the rim. Some minor areas of 'blooming' to the turquoise border on six plates. Of the soup plates, one with two rim chips, six with a single rim chip. Of the four shaped oval dishes, one with an area of wear to the turquoise border. Of the coffee cups, seven have a form of repair or restoration, four are cracked and one has a chipped handle. Two saucers are cracked.
