Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is loose and sagging on the stretcher. There is craquelure and paint separation throughout the work, notably to the dogs. There is bubbling to the darker pigments. There are minor specks of paint loss, scuffs and surface abrasion throughout the work. Some surface dirt throughout. UV light inspection reveals areas of retouching throughout the work. Held in an impressive, decorative gilt frame.
