Description

  • Silver
  • 37.5cm., 14 3/4 in. high
urn-form with egg and dart rim, cover with cast rose and vine finial, the body applied with a frieze of trailing vines above racing jockeys, the lower body cast with acanthus leaves below a latticework and rosette band, satyr mask embellished foliate handles, the spreading circular base with husk & berry rim and ornate scrolling leaf border, engraved HAMLET, GOLDSMITH TO HIS MAJESTY

Condition

Good clear marks to body, cover and screw-on foot. Probably later or re-gilded. Very good gauge. Old repair to one leaf of finial. Otherwise good condition.
